Exercise #5
"Walking up Steps Backwards"
1. Walk up the steps forward to remove objects.
2. Return to bottom of steps.
3. Hold on to handrail.
4. Walk slowly backwards up steps while holding on to the handrail.
Do this exercise daily.
Begin with one set of 12 to 16 steps.
This may be performed several times a day.
If you do not have steps in your home, a thick book may be used such as a dictionary.
1. Lay the book on a non-carpeted floor.
2. Hold on to a table or counter.
3. Step backwards onto and off the book.
4. Alternate feet - left then right when stepping backwards.
